Kursusmål SQL is a universal language used on several platforms designed to manipulate data in relational databases.
On this course, we focus on functionality of importance for data consumers, like controllers and analysts retrieving data from databases to Excel or other reporting applications.
This course is intended for you who wants to extract data from databases like Microsoft SQL servers, Oracle Servers, Access databases. This course is also the base platform you need if you want to work with the more advanced functions like creating Views, Stored procedures and more, on a Microsoft SQL server.
The course will be conducted in English.
On the course, you will learn to
- Select and manipulate data
- Sort data
- Filter data
- Use a list of default functions in the SQL language
- Create groupings of data
- Create Sub Query´s
- Select data from multiple tables using Joins
Deltagere You do not need to have previous experience with SQL but we recommend that you show up in time on the day of the course, willing to learn, and we ...
... can promise you the best possible course experience.

Kursusmateriale A course that consists of a both theory and practical exercises. We know the importance of having practical exercises and hands-on is always in focus during the courses. You will get a course material you can use as an encyclopedia after the course and downloads of course exercises.
Kursus indhold Module-1: what is SQL
In this module, you will be introduced to basic theories about designing relational databases some history about RMDB and SQL language.

- Primary key, Foreign key
- What is SQL
In this module, you will be introduced to the SELECT statement, and learn how to perform simple query´s against a relational database.
- Use the SELECT statement
- Retrieve all columns
- Retrieve individual columns
- Sort data
- Sort data by multiple keys
In this module, you will be introduced to do basic filtering of selected data.
- The WHERE clause
In this module, you will be introduced to filtering using patterns.
In this module, you will be introduced to how to create calculated columns. You will also meet some of the most commonly used Functions() in SQL. You will also be introduced to some more specific T-SQL functions() and a list of all the available T-SQL functions.
You will be introduced to working with Alias for Tables and Columns.
- What is a Field
- Concatenation of fields
- Using Alias
- What is a function
- Using functions
In this module, we will introduce a special group of functions. Agregate- functions. Agregate functions are used to calculate pr. Column in a group of data.
- SUM, MAX, MIN, AVG
- Using agregatefunctions
- Grouping data
- Filtering on Groups
In this module, you will be introduced to subqueries which on one hand can be very complex but on the other hand can be extremely useful. You will after this module be able to use subqueries as a filter and to use subqueries as embedded in calculations.
- What is a subquery
- Filtering using subqueries
- Correlated embedded subqueries
In this module, you will work with the concept of Normalized data and relational data, and be introduced to joins. The different types of joint will be covered and tested.
- What is combined queries
- Inner join, Outer join
- Joins and aggregations
